If we are asked to change the overlap status on a job requisition, this is not possible. The field on the job requisition that shows the position's overlap status is not actually a field on the job req that we can enter or edit. It is a read-only field pulling data from the position. 

The position's availability for overlap is determined by the status of the incumbent.  A position can only be held by one person at a time, unless it is in overlap. The only way to enable overlap on a position is to check the box to allow for overlap when entering the termination or other future-dated staffing action.  (Positions where the incumbent is on a leave in Workday are automatically available for overlap.)

Basically the only way to hire into this position is for them to enter the future-dated staffing action event for the incumbent.  They must complete the incumbent's staffing action event before the new person's start date?  If they cannot do that, they cannot hire into this position and will need to create a new req for a new position to hire this person into since the existing position is not available.   

Overlap cannot be entered retroactively, it has to be current or future-dated.
